Hi Thor,

Could you tell me if a 1.1.7 version of Psyclone for Mac OS X 10.5 is currently under development ?
And if so, when do you plan to release it ?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Cedric

Hi Cedric,

If your university or organisation has an active subscription to Psyclone you can get the latest released version for Mac OSX (currently 1.1.8a for Intel, 1.1.9 should become available in the next week or so).

The free version of Psyclone that is currently available for download from MindMakers.org is generally a few releases behind the commercial version. We expect to update the free version later this summer.

Best,
Thor

Thanks Thor, for your reply.
My usage of Psyclone is rather for a personal project, so the free version is sufficient to me for the time being.
I was just wondering if the Mac version was left behind, since the Psyclone version for Linux and Windows platform are already in 1.1.7 version, but I see it's not the case  Smiley

Just one last question, will the next version be universal binary (you mentionned Intel for version 1.1.8a) ?

Thanks.

Hi Cedric,

After reading up on the concept of Universal Binaries for OSX it appears that GCC should be able to create these for small C programs. We will spend some time on getting this to work for Psyclone and if it does, we will begin distributing Psyclone as a Universal Binary to run on both Intel and PPC hardware.

What kind of a project are you using Psyclone for? Is it Mac only or mixed with Linux/Windows? One or multiple computers?

And are you using Intel or PPC?

Best,
Thor

Hi Thor,

Many thanks for having looked into this. I'm still using a PPC machine for now, it's running Mac OS 10.5 and it's my main development machine, hence my concern about being able to run future versions of Psyclone on it (though I intend to move to an Intel-based Mac later this year).

I'm working on a project that aims for integrating several AI components together : speech recognition and synthesis, natural language processing among others. It is intended to run on a single type of platform at first (Mac or Linux but I seek portability from the start). It's still a little blurry for me since I'm still in heavy design phase at the moment (using constructionist methodology), but Psyclone extreme modularity and its ability to handle different programming languages seemed to me a perfect fit for managing communications between very heterogeneous modules.

Regards,
Cedric
